Bobs’s first thoughts on applying Purrrrrfect Foundations
Nourish
Well, what can I say about food?
I guess one of my main problems is that I have a sweet tooth and even though I never take sugar in teas or coffee (no milk either) and never drink fizzy drinks, I have an issue with (especially) chocolate. And as for biscuits….!
I know that they are not good for me but my body & mind demand a sugar rush. Fortunately, I am not diabetic and everything health-wise is normal (apart from the Prostate Cancer – under control, and the arthritic knees) so sugar is really all about weight gain and all of the nasty things it does to the body.
Myni is constantly reminding me about what I should be eating, especially in terms of green vegetables (boring but I know necessary) and fruit. Carbs don’t affect me (except for the weight gain) and I know my blood glucose levels are ‘normal’ as I occasionally do a test with Myni’s machine. I do like a slice of cake (bit like biscuits really in that it is impossible to have one slice) but am not addicted to it unlike someone I live with, but that is another story!
So I guess ‘I live to eat’ and ‘not eat to live’, I know I have a problem with weight and with the current lockdown situation am unable to go to my twice-weekly gym sessions, so hopefully in time and with a lot more prodding from Myni I can get this under control.
Move
I have never had a problem with ‘sofaritis’ and until recently have always enjoyed the outside life. Certainly, in our last home I had no choice but to be active, when we had the dogs I was the main walker and as for the horses and land with the associated chores there was no let up. As has been said by Myni previously, I had a bad time of it last year with my undiagnosed ruptured Bakers Cyst which occurred almost on moving day – perfect timing! But that is in the past, we are now comfortably in our new home with lots of outside jobs. The main problem is the lockdown, the lack of formal gym time but as we are constantly being told it cannot last for ever – hopefully when I am doing my next update I can speak of the situation as being in the past!
Relax
As has been said above I have never had a problem with being active with the associated rest time and I know that if I don’t relax/rest I can be a pain in the arse – ask Myni!
Since the diagnosis with Cancer in 2013, I have started to have an afternoon nap and find this beneficial – who knows what the 37 sessions of Radiotherapy did to me? Also, it could just be a feature of age, I cannot go on for ever rushing around so I know relaxing is very necessary.
I am a great reader (Myni always comments on my book type, never mind the content, feel the width) and always have at least one book on the go. I am also an avid TV watcher especially crime dramas. So this is my relaxation method and it appears to work for me.
Rest
I am not a good sleeper and am often reading in the middle of the night. As has been said above I do appreciate my afternoon nap but find it impossible to have a lay-in in the morning. But with the life-style we have adopted I guess I am pretty rested and do have the benefit of not having to have a rigid schedule to adhere to. If I do want to go to bed because I am knackered then I am able to.
